High-Efficiency Electric Water Heaters

Installing a high-efficiency electric water heater can reduce your water heating costs by up to 30%.
Plus, National Grid offers a rebate of up to $400 to help make this energy-saving equipment more affordable for you.
  • $400 rebate for an ENERGY STAR® certified electric heat pump water heater, which takes the heat from the surrounding air and transfers it to water in an enclosed tank.
  • $100 rebate for an ENERGY STAR certified electric stand-alone water heater, which features better insulation, heat traps, and more efficient burners than standard models.
  • Up to $10 rebate for tank insulation/wrap for an electric water heater
  • $0.50 rebate per linear foot of foam pipe insulation for hot water supply lines for electric water heaters, limit 12 linear feet – Insulating your hot water pipes reduces heat loss and can raise water temperature 2°F–4°F hotter than uninsulated pipes can deliver, allowing you to lower your water temperature setting in your water heater. You also won't have to wait as long for hot water when you turn on a faucet or showerhead, which helps conserve water.
*Indirect water heater must be attached to a natural gas ENERGY STAR® hot water boiler with an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) of 85% or higher
